Volunteering at Clark

Giving back to others. This distinguishing American attribute has resonated at Clark for more than a century. Intuitively, we know that by serving others, we are served as well. We just didn’t know how much until recently. A University of Michigan study has determined that older people who provide practical help or emotional support to others reduce their risk of dying by nearly 60% over their counterparts who do not.

Last year nearly 300 volunteers provided more than 19,000 hours of service at Clark. There are even residents who volunteered at Clark and then decided to move here.

Whether it’s a Clark resident going across the hall to lend a hand or a west Michigan resident coming to Clark on popcorn day, we welcome volunteers in a wide variety of roles. It could be working in the Chatterbox coffee shop or assisting with activities for residents in skilled nursing. Perhaps it’s checking in borrowed books from the library or playing the piano for resident events. If you have the heart, we have the volunteer opportunity.

For specific information about volunteering at Clark, simply email us or call the Clark Volunteer Services Coordinator at 616-452-1568, extension 140 or toll free at 800-770-1117. Click here to download an application to volunteer.
